Is There Such a Thing as Newest Google Penalty?

As an internet marketing professional, specifically in web promotion through SEO, it is already an attitude to be updated with anything that is related in my own field. Everyday, I would browse the internet for new bits of information about the latest trend in SEO.

While ago, I was browsing and happened to stumble upon an article that declares about the newest Google penalty (title: Recent Google Penalty for Link Building Spam). It was dated March 16, 2009 and so I would say that it is indeed a recent article. I had the impression that this article offers new ideas on what to write for my SEO blogging tasks for my client.

Getting through the article, I lost my trust. It is not well-written in terms of organization of ideas. However, it is informative if I happened to be a beginner. But in the eyes of SEO experts, the article is nothing but a piece of an empty can.

It is not clearly mentioned in the article what is the latest or newest penalty that Google would give to search engine offenders such as spammers. However, I have understood that what the article is trying to say is that the recent Google penalty is the banning of websites when they get caught of unethical SEO strategies. I got frustrated after discovering what the article is pointing out. Banning of websites from search engine listings is not new anymore. As far as I know, banning of the spammers’ websites is already practiced by search engines such as Google as a form of heaviest penalty.

I would have not liked the article but the writer was able to redeem the failure of its article by citing ways to get better ranking in the search engine results pages. It is stated in the article that relevancy is key–relevant keywords and relevant links would have the website get higher ranking in the SERP.

Web marketing professionals like me would just have rated the article as a beginner’s write up.
