No one among the internet marketing professionals, not even me, or anyone from Google who formally declares that Meta tags are not important anymore. This is the new buzz and here’s why.
Mostly, the SEO experts would tend to prioritize Meta tags as one of the on-site optimization technique. Meta tags are composed of title, description, and keywords. These things are not visible to internet users unless they have to view the page source or the HTML of the web page. According to SEO experts that Meta tags are crawled by search engine spiders in order for it to know what the website is all about then index it according to relevant category. However, recent update about the new trends in SEO is that Meta tags are not already a factor in ranking among major search engines.
No one has formally declared about this fact because all these are just claims according to experiments and experience. However, no one negates or refutes on the claim that ranking is best achieved when instead of having the keywords concentrated on Meta tags, have them found in the web content in the form of anchor texts.
Personally, I agree with the fact that one can get better ranking in search engine results page by stuffing the keywords in the content. But I do not agree on the claim that Meta tags are not important. Perhaps, what is not really important is the keyword Meta tags because you can let search engines find them in the web content. The title tag is important because this is what appears on the search engine listing as the blue link. Meta description is also important because it is what appears below the blue link, a snippet of information what the website is all about.
