Like works of art such as paintings and drawings, to get done with your web design task is to apply finishing touches. Extra details to be put on your web design would make your website stand out from the rest. I got this idea from the young but already an expert web designer named Jacob Cass.
There are several techniques to be employed as finishing touches for your web design. But for now, let me introduce the use of anti aliased text and the use of subtle contrasting stroked borders.
Anti Aliased Text: Anti-aliasing is a way of drawing a text object or picture to avoid having jagged edges; as a result, the edges of an image are smoothened. Distorted image structures are minimized in this process. The best way of doing this is to use the “Character” panel of your image editor. You can use None, Sharp, Crisp, Strong and Smooth. You can experiment such settings to different fonts and employ whichever gives best results. Sharp setting is recommend because it works in almost different fonts.
Contrasting Borders: The use of 1 pixel stroked border and lines makes a difference because it adds extra crispness to the design. The contrast is highlighted, giving the web design more depth. This polishing strategy also works best for large text.
